The Brenes Poker Family: Humberto and Alex

At the LAPT Season 1 finale in Punta del Este, two Brenes brothers made deep runs: Humberto Brenes cashed in 28th place, and Alex Brenes finished runner-up in the 351-entry event. Costa Rica's most famous poker family owned the Uruguayan headlines.

Poker runs in families more often than fans realise, but few families can point to a bracelet winner and a tour runner-up in the same event cycle. The brothers even filmed a joint check-in from the floor for the old media room.

The Punta del Este double

The finale built an $851,175 prize pool from 351 entries. Alex ran all the way to heads-up play for the biggest Brenes-family LAPT result, while Humberto — already a legend — settled for a cash and the cameras.
